Police say the abandonment of a van on railway tracks could be linked to a nearby robbery.
An investigation is under way after the van was left on the line near the Grove Road level crossing in Beccles, causing disruption to multiple train services.
British Transport Police (BTP) for East Anglia were called to the scene alongside Network Rail and Suffolk Constabulary, who now believe the van may be connected to an incident where items were stolen from a petrol station on Gosford Road. It has since been removed for forensic examination.
A BTP spokesman said: “At 5.55am today officers were called to a level crossing on Grove Road in Beccles after reports of a van on the tracks causing a significant obstruction. It is believed the incident happened between 4.30am and 5.30am.
“An investigation is now under way to understand who was driving the vehicle.”
