A BID to open up tourism in Geldeston with a new mooring basin and a boat and bicycle hire centre has failed.

The planning committee of the Broads Authority on Friday went along with recommendations to reject the south Norfolk application, on development grounds, and the impact on the area's appearance.

Many villagers opposed the scheme to create a 25-space mooring and a workshop for hire facilities at Newlands Caravan Park on Station Road.
