Members of one of the Arts Society’s regional branches came together to celebrate five decades of the organisation’s existence.

The Arts Society Waveney Valley raised a glass to 50 years of the society on Wednesday, May 2, at the Fisher Theatre in Bungay, where the group meets every month.

The far-reaching group, which brings people together through a shared interest in the arts and artistic heritage, has gained more than 90,000 members worldwide since it was first formed in 1968.

It was previously known as The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts, or NADFAS, before being rebranded as The Arts Society last year.

Members of the Waveney branch gathered for their own celebration, where they heard a lecture on 20th century jewellery and were then treated to cake and a glass of bubbly.

The group’s lectures are held on the first Wednesday of every month at the Fisher Theatre. Visit their website to find out more information.
