Beccles Amateur Sailing club held a fundraising event to celebrate it’s 110th birthday.
The event raised £166 for The May Centre in Beccles, which provides a place for adults with disabilities to go and enjoy a number of different activities in a relaxed and safe environment. It is entirely dependent on donations.
A spokesman for the sailing club said: “The May Centre was chosen as the recipient as many families of Beccles Amateur Sailing Club have benefited and been inspired by the service they give to disabled people locally.”
“Over the last thirty five years it has been run by terrific groups of volunteers and fundraisers who provide a wonderful service.”
The sailing club was formed in 1907 for the residents of Beccles and the surrounding area. Now in it’s 110th year the family club runs ten weeks of sail training sessions every summer to encourage adults and young people to experience sailing.
