Fifty five Beccles businesses will be putting the finishing touches to their entry into the second annual Christmas Tree Trail today.

The Beccles and Bungay Journal is one of the many businesses taking part, bringing festive cheer to shop windows around the town.

Each tree will be brimming with character, with some decorated with a theme, along with a sprinkling of tinsel and baubles.

The lights on the trees will be turned on at the same time as the main town lights this evening. (See page 9 for details.)

To take part in the trail participants must visit all 55 businesses to find the letter or number attached to each tree, which will spell out a phrase.

To enter the competition and be in with a chance of winning a family season pass for Beccles Lido, participants need to complete the form in the Christmas Tree Trail leaflet available from all the businesses taking part and return it to the collection boxes at Beccles Library, Roys, Beccles Books or Saxons.

You can also vote for your favourite tree, with a bottle of champagne on offer for the winning business.

The trees have been supplied by Evergreen Family Garden Centre. Children who pick up a Christmas tree trail leaflet can also take part in a colouring competition with the winning girl and boy receiving a gift voucher for Roys.

The closing date is December 24. You can also enter at www.beccleschristmaslights.co.uk
