Students are today celebrating as they receive their long-awaited A-level results after two years of hard work.

Sir John Leman High School in Beccles, Bungay High School and Langley School Sixth Forms are rejoicing after another successful year.

Michael Taylor, headteacher of Sir John Leman – where 82pc of students achieved A* to C grades – said: “We want to congratulate our students for their great success this year.

“Not only is it a great headline for the school, smashing our challenging internal target but more importantly, behind that are some brilliant individual performances, some outstanding sets of grades and much evidence of personal bests.”

He added: “We are relentlessly trying to get better and hope to improve further in the future.”

The school achieved its best ever results, building on their previous best last year of 71pc.

Steph Silvers, head of sixth form, said: “I am so proud of the students as they have worked so hard.

“Everyone has come together for the students, working with each other for a real team effort.”

Bungay High School say they “are delighted with another fantastic set of sixth form results” with 65pc of students obtaining A* to C grades, and an overall pass rate of 98pc.

Furthermore, the pass rate of its Level 3 vocational and technical courses increased to 100pc.

Headteacher Angelo Goduti said: “We are extremely proud of our students’ achievements and these results reflect their hard work, commitment and determination.”

Langley School Sixth Form also had its best ever year with 80pc of students receiving A* to C, up from 79pc last year.

The school also scored a perfect 100pc pass rate this year.

Dominic Findlay, headmaster, said: “These results are a true testament of the hard work and dedication of both the students and staff and we wish all our leaving students the very best of luck in the future.

“I am absolutely delighted as these are our best ever A Level results – which is incredible considering the new format.

“Our students felt it was a harder format but they really bought into the changes and handled them extremely well.”

This year sixth form students at Sir John Leman High School achieved the greatest A-Level results in the school’s history.

Emma Barker, 18, got three A*s and one A. She said: “I’m thrilled with my results. The two years of hard work have definitely paid off.

“Looking back now it was well worth the stress.

“I will be going on to study mathematics at the University of Warwick which was my first choice.”

And Emily Lawler, also 18, walked away with three As.

She said: “It’s great, I did work really hard and am just glad it paid off. However, I am still very surprised to have received three As.

“The teachers here really do help and support you to get the best grades.

“They even put on extra classes for us leading up to exams to make sure we were as prepared as we could be.

“I am now going on to study music at my first choice of York St John University.”

Bungay High School Sixth Form

Over at Bungay sixth form, Florence Mitchell-Green, aged 18, achieved three As.

She said: “I am a quite overwhelmed but very happy with my results.

“There was a lot of work involved and it was very stressful – especially the English exam on the new system. It was difficult to know what the examiners wanted.

“With these results I will now be travelling to the Netherlands to study Management of International Social Challenges at Eramus University Rotterdam.”

And Jordan Wright, 18, achieved an A, B and Distinction *.

“I’ve been very nervous as you would be leading up to hearing the results,” he said.

“It’s just such a relief after all the months and months of preparation for it to have finally paid off in the way that it has.

“It just shows that if you do put in hard work you really can achieve anything you like.

“The teachers have been brilliant. They helped massively and were always there for support – particularly during the coursework for business, which I received a distinction star.”
