The fire of Beccles in 1586, herring fishing from the Middle Ages and the town's old printing works all feature in the latest exhibition on display at Beccles Museum.

Put together by the Waveney Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, Threading Through Time features work by the group’s 50 or so members.

Running until July 22, it is the first time the guild have put on a display at the museum.

Kathryn Osborne, chairman of the branch, said: “Our members like to have a project and we try to do one or two every year. We don’t always exhibit them but this has been really nice.

“We liked the theme because members could adapt it to their interests and it includes machine embroidery, hand embroidery and mixed media.

“It’s amazing to see the different takes on the same theme.”

The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month - except in August - at the Quaker Hall in Beccles from 10am to noon and new members are always welcome.
