Beccles and District Horticultural Society staged its first show of the year on April 12.
There was a good display of spring flowers and the judges commended the quality of the exhibits.
The event was followed by a talk from vegetable and flower judge Donny Andrews.
The overall winner of the show was Mrs S Westney. The first prize winners were: cabbage – D Glanfield, cauliflower - D Glanfield, leeks - D Boast, sprouting broccoli – J Foster, rhubarb – R Bedwell, flowering pot plant – J Elliott, foliage pot plant – S Westney, one specimen daffodil – D Glanfield, three specimen daffodils – R Bedwell, vase spring flowers – J Webb, one specimen tulip – M Whstlecraft, three tulips - R Bedwell, six stems polyanthus – J Elliott, growing polyanthus – P McDougall, growing primrose – D Glanfield, pot growing daffodils – S Westney, pot growing bulbs – J Foster, three stems flowering shrubs – S Westney, hanging basket – D Glanfield, Oxford marmalade – S Patterson, hot cross buns – S Westney and decorated Easter egg – R Bedwell.
The group meets at the former St John’s Ambulance Hall in Blyburgate on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm. New members are welcome.
