Organisers have hailed the success of a pop-up food and drink market.
The Beccles Food and Drink Festival organising team, with the support of Beccles Town Council and East Suffolk Council, held the pop-up market on Saturday, July 25 in the area of New Market, Beccles, which is currently closed to traffic.
With the event featuring stalls of local traders, the market was designed to help artisans that were due to attend the main 2020 Festival in May Festival in May, some of whom have been unable to trade during lockdown, and to encourage more people to visit the town centre.
Featuring stalls selling fudge, cheese and butter, charcuterie, rare breed meat, sauces and marinades, cakes and vegetables, the event was a success.
Paul Parravani, who led the organising team, said: “We had hoped to bring more traders to the event, but were pleased we managed to organise the market in just over two weeks.
“The consensus from the traders was that they had a successful day, and the positive comments from visitors were very encouraging.
“We will be contacting other traders over the next fortnight to see if we can put a second market on in August with more stalls and a slightly different format.
“We would like to thank all our visitors for observing social distancing and making use of the sanitisers on the stalls before making their purchases”.
