Pupils at the Sir John Leman High School in Beccles hosted a special assembly to hand over a cheque for £6,691.40 to Cancer Research UK.
The money was raised through the school’s annual charity fun run - Leman For Life - which is their own version of Cancer Research UK’s famous Race for Life and involves staff and students running laps of the school field in fancy dress.
Tom Bamford of Cancer Research UK accepted the cheque at the assembly and discussed the types of equipment the money raised would buy in the vital work that the charity does in improving the treatments for cancers. He also made a presentation to the school of a framed certificate to congratulate them for raising £30,581.75 for Cancer Research UK over the past four years.
The school’s top fundraisers Alice Chard and Jennifer Steed received the certificate on the school’s behalf.
Also present and thanked for their help and support at the assembly were Beccles mayor Caroline Topping and representatives from Beccles Friends of Cancer Research UK and Bungay Black Dog running Club, who are key members of the Leman for Life team.
