FIREFIGHTERS are currently tackling a blaze above a pizza parlour in Beccles.

Five crews were called to the fire on the first floor of the Ristorante Piatto building in Smallgate - believed to be used by the Beccles branch of the Royal British Legion - at around 1.

Five crews were called to the fire on the first floor of the Ristorante Piatto building in Smallgate - believed to be used by the Beccles branch of the Royal British Legion - at around 1.40pm today.

Police have cordoned off the road and traffic is being diverted.

Crews from Beccles, Bungay and Normanshurst are still on the scene and a hydraulic platform from Great Yarmouth is in use.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
