Firefighters quash large barn fire involving 15 tonnes of straw

Firefighters quashed a large barn blaze involving 15 tonnes of straw at a farm in the Norfolk countryside.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at Cottage Farm on the A146 Beccles Road, Hales, at around 11.10am.

Crews from Loddon , Earlham, Beccles and Lowestoft were joined by a water carrier from Hethersett.

Firefighters battled the flames for more than an hour before being stood down just before 12.30pm.

Two crews remain at the farm and are in the process of dampening down the surrounding area.
