Pupils at a Beccles school arrived in their classrooms with crazy hairstyles last Friday to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Bad Hair Day fundraiser, which was held nationally, was organised at Ravensmere Infant School in honour of one-year-old Emma Gulliver who was cared for at the hospital after being born with a rare genetic condition - congenital central hypoventilation syndrome. It means that when Emma is unwell, tired or asleep, her brain doesn’t trigger for her to breathe effectively.

Emma celebrated her first birthday on the day of the fundraiser, and was back at home to celebrate with her family at their Beccles home after spending months in hospital.

Her older brother Issac, five, attends the school, and pupils were encouraged to do something silly with their hair to raise funds for the children’s hospital.

The hairstyles included whacky colours, cool quiffs and creations with plastic bottles.
