There are countless unsung community heroes working everyday throughout Beccles - and now is the time to recognise their hard work and dedication.

Beccles Town Council has opened nominations for its annual community awards which honours people of the town working in different voluntary roles.

There are three different categories; The Leslie Freeman Award for Long Service, The Robert (Bob) Ellwood Plate for Outstanding Service in the Community and The Eileen Crisp Award for Youth.

A council spokesman said: “The nomination must contain a brief description including the length of service, their role in the organisation or as an individual and any other details pertinent to their volunteering role.

“The nominee must not be made aware that they have been nominated.”

The council will decide on the winners of each category and present them with awards during the Christmas town council meeting.

Nomination must be made by Friday, November 16 and sent to Mrs Candice Turner, Beccles Town Council, Town Hall, The Walk, Beccles, NR34 9AJ.
