Beccles Twinning Association members travel to France for autumn festival

Seven members of the Beccles Twinning Association have travelled to northern France to hold a stall at the six annual autumn festival Fete d’Automne in Petit Couronne.
More than 40 stalls sold gourmet delicacies including sausages, brioche, cheese, apple and pear juice, cider and cider vinegar, as well as jewellery, pottery, crafts and homegrown seasonal vegetables.
The lively atmosphere was further enhanced by a steam driven lathe, which made wooden clogs and a homemade steam train giving rides to children.
Beccles twinners flew the flag by selling six varieties of homemade chutney (courtesy of David Brown’s Help For Heroes campaign) and held a raffle for a basket of chutney and mustards provided by Mandy’s Pickles, which was won by Edith Guenet of Petit Couronne.
Members of the Twinning Association from Ahlem/Hanover provided German beer and sausages for the crowds to enjoy.
The day drew hundreds of people who enjoyed the variety of goods available and the very international atmosphere.
