The ladies section of the Beccles Indoor Bowls Club has raised £2,700 for the Big C cancer charity.
Rachel Clarke, president of the ladies section, was tasked with choosing this year’s charity for their fundraising efforts.
The Big C supported Mrs Clarke’s daughter Emma when she was undergoing treatment for cancer before she passed away aged 39.
“This is a local charity and you can see exactly where the money goes,” she said.
“They gave our family so much support and we hope this money can help other patients and their families when they are diagnosed.”
David Moar, the founder of the Big C cancer charity was presented the cheque at the bowls club in Common Lane, Beccles.
He said: “I was diagnosed with cancer at 28 and the only treatment was available in London. Having to go back and forth between London and Norfolk was draining.
“That is why we set up Big C to make sure that people in Norfolk and north Suffolk could have high quality treatment here.”
In October the club put on a quiz night which raised £1,060 and last month members held a fun day.
Mr Moar said the money will go towards supporting research at the Norwich Research Park.
