BUNGAY narrowed the gap this week in the great Beccles v Bungay Challenge - thanks to their Lions Club.

Bungay Area Lions Club took to the dart board at the Chaucer Club against Beccles Lions determined to do their bit for their town, and it was a closely fought encounter, with arrows flying around, something with great accuracy and sometimes with less.

After 12 games both clubs had six wins, and it went to a deciding game, with Bugnay showing the greater staying power to sntch it and victory by 7-6. Everyone present enjoyed the evening and the excellent buffet provided.

The win gives Bungay a point and means the overall score at the moment stands at 4½-34½ to Beccles, with everything still to play for, with four events to go.

The quiz between the two town councils has now been fixed for Wednesday, May 28, at the King's Head Hotel at Beccles and is set to be the final event at which the trophy will be presented to the winning town mayor. plaques will also be presented to each winning team in the challenge.

March 28: Bungay Camera Club beat Beccles Camera club in a colour and black and white print challenge - one point to Bungay.

April 4: Beccles Helping Hands beat Bungay Green Dragon at skittles at the Bear and Bells - one point to Beccles.

April 4: Beccles Royal British Legion beat Bungay RBL in the first leg of a cribbage challenge at Bungay.

April 6: Rowing races, Beccles and Bungay teams won one race each - half a point to each town.

April 16: Bungay WI beat Beccles Morning WI at tiddlywinks at Beccles Quaker Hall - one point to Bungay.

April 18: Bungay Royal British Legion beat Beccles Royal British Legion at Beccles RBL club in the second leg of their cribbage challenge, with each club taking half a point overall.

April 22: Beccles squash players beat Bungay squash players 3-2 at Beccles Sports Centre - one point to Beccles.

April 24: Beccles Scrabble Club and Bungay met at Bungay Library and

the game finished level at 6-6 - half a point to each team.

May 1: Bungay Area Lions Blub beat Beccles Lions Club 7-6 in a darts challenge at the Chaucer Club at Bungay, one point to Bungay.
