More than 100 Year 7 pupils from Bungay High School travelled to Norwich Castle to learn more about the Norman Conquest.
In total 126 pupils enjoyed the trip and were able to learn more about an event which changed the course of British history.
A school spokesman said: “Pupils and staff alike agreed that the day was informative, interesting and fun.”
The day consisted of four workshops where pupils investigated different parts of the invasion to inform their judgement about whether or not it was a positive step forward in British history.
The spokesman added: “Pupils thoroughly enjoyed recreating the Battle of Hastings with the variety of weapons and tactics, whilst under strict supervision of museum staff.
“They were also able to take part in a drama workshop to investigate crime and punishment under Saxon and Norman rule.
“The students were a credit to the school and can use the hands-on methods they learned to enable them to put their classroom studies into context.”
