Twenty-three students from Bungay High School have travelled to London to visit the Houses of Parliament.

During the trip on March 6, they were taken on tour of the House of Commons and House of Lords, using the services of an official tour guide, before spending an hour with the Waveney MP Peter Aldous.

The students, most of whom are studying the English Civil War as part of their A-level history course at the school’s sixth form centre, were able to put their own questions to Mr Aldous.

Their questions ranged from homelessness and sustainable energy, to childhood obesity and Brexit.

Catherine Wiltshire, associate head at the school, said: “The whole experience, facilitated with the help of their MP, enhanced their understanding of the conflict between crown and parliament in the 17th century as well as making a valuable connection to the politics and issues of the current day.”
