More than 20 bags of rubbish were cleared from the town following a community litter pick.

Armed with litter picking sticks men, woman and children of Bungay came together last Sunday (March 24) to clear the streets, community areas and parks for the town’s first spring clean.

Residents of the town were divided into small groups to tackle the known litter spots across the town. In total 25 bags of rubbish were collected over the course of two hours.

Bungay town clerk Jeremy Burton said: “We were really pleased with the turnout. We had about 35 people it was a really good day.

“Litter isn’t a particular problem in the town, it was just to give the town an extra special spring clean.

“We want to make it an annual event - everyone was really enthusiastic,” Mr Burton said.

He added: “It was lovely to see all the youngsters out there.”
