Since my last posting we have been baking in some glorious summer weather, not too conducive, I feel, to wearing a heavy robe and chain - but a job must be done.

May 10 was the All Hallows Fete at Ditchingham. The weather brought a great many visitors out and the stalls provided many treats for all those who attended, including a dog show. An immense amount of hard work goes into this event year and it is good to see it rewarded so well.

I attended the Lions Charter evening also on 10 May which was a very well attended event held in Earsham Hall - a great venue - and a wonderful evening.

The hanging baskets on their strengthened brackets have now gone up around the town and look incredible - all down to the hard work of Simon Thompson and his gang.

A musical evening held at St Mary’s Church on June 17 was a fabulous event.

Ellie Foulger and her friends sang songs from the shows accompanied by Jason Collins. Such an amazing evening from Ellie and her friends.

The Bungay Proms is next tomorrow, July 1 - sponsored by many local businesses for the Town Reeve’s Appeal for the Ditchingham Mens’ Shed - already this looks as if it is going to be a very well attended event.

The Bungay Festival from July 8 to 23 begins with the opening festival at 11.45am. There is a very full itinerary including the flower festival at St Marys Church, the duck race on July 9, the Town Ball on July 14, and the NSPCC Mozart Concert at St Mary’s on July 15. This is a very small selection of the full programme which can be obtained throughout the town.
