Illustrated dictionaries have been presented to Year 4 children at eight local primary schools by Bungay Rotary Club.

Over the past few weeks the Usborne dictionaries have been handed out to pupils at Bungay primary, St Edmund’s RC school in Bungay, St Benet’s RC School at Beccles, Ellingham, Woodton, Ditchingham, Ilketshall St Lawrence and Earsham primary schools.

Each book has the name of the recipient printed in it, and the project is part of the club’s vocational work, one aspect of which is to help children progress in their education.

The books have been presented at school assemblies or as part of class activities. They include hundreds of colour illustrations and historic and geographical information about the items included, as well as the words themselves.

In all the club has presented 129 dictionaries to children this year in a project co-ordinated by vocational committee chairman Chris Whipps.

The club has been presenting the books to schoolchildren for several years now, but over the last three years has extended the number of schools to which they are presented.
