A cheque for £2,059 has been presented to the East Anglian Children’s Hospices Nook appeal by the outgoing president of Bungay Rotary Club.
Michael Ingram chose the charity for his fundraising during his year of office, and it was received by the appeal’s representative, Tim Jenkins, at the club’s weekly lunch at the Buck Inn at Flixton.
The money was raised in a variety of ways, including street collections, raffles, and fundraising events.
Mr Jenkins thanked Mr Ingram and club members for their support, and outlined progress on the building of the new hospice at Framingham Pigot. He said it could be completed next year and the Duchess of Cambridge is patron for the appeal.
At the same meeting Mr Ingram installed Terry Reeve as the new club president. A former journalist with Archant, it is Mr Reeve’s second term in the post. He thanked Mr Ingram for a successful year for the club under his guidance, and said his fundraising in the coming year would support Bungay Youth Club and the NSPCC, a charity for which he is North Suffolk chairman.
