SWIMMERS who participated in Swimathon 2009 at Bungay Pool have raised more than �2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation.

Bungay Pool was one of more than 500 pools which took part nationwide, contributing to Swimathon's 2009 fundraising total of almost �1.5m.

The much-needed funds will help ensure terminally ill patients receive the best possible end-of-life care free of charge.

Jenny Lytton, duty manager from Bungay Pool & Gym, said: “We are delighted that so many local people got involved in the Swimathon this year and we are thrilled at raising �2,272 for such a great cause. Next year our event will only take place on Saturday 17 April and places will be limited, so please sign up early.”
