A REGIONAL bus company is helping NHS Suffolk promote its newly refreshed chlamydia website by displaying posters on all its buses in the county free of charge.
First East England buses is advertising www.amiclear.com, which encourages sexually active young people in Suffolk to get tested for the sexually transmitted infection chlamydia, a condition affecting both men and women.
The interior posters will be displayed on almost 100 buses throughout Suffolk including Ipswich, Woodbridge, Sudbury, Southwold and Framlingham.
It is estimated that one in 12 people under the age of 25 in Suffolk who have sex have a chlamydia infection - one that can have serious long-term consequences such as infertility.
Fortunately, the test is simple and painless and free screening kits can be ordered online through the site.
Alan Pilbeam, managing director of First East England buses, said: “We are pleased to support NHS Suffolk with this important campaign.
“Our buses provide an important transport link for many young people in Suffolk and are an ideal location to promote the new website. First is committed to working in partnership with local organisations that benefit the Suffolk community.”
