At least six cars were vandalised over the weekend in the South Road area of Beccles.
Members of the public contact police on Sunday morning after what appeared to be a white powder had been sprayed on their cars overnight and they were concerned about what the substance was.
Police found the powder was from a fire extinguisher which was found nearby and police officers are trying to trace where this came from.
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Stewart McIlroy at Suffolk Police on 101, quoting crime number BE/15/642.
