It's one of the most popular charity events in the region and attracts hundreds of participants. But this year the East Anglia's Children's Hospices' (EACH) Ride for Life fundraising event has been revamped to offer a bigger challenge for cyclists.

The new route will see the most adventurous participants cycle 200 miles over three days and across three counties, taking in EACH's hospices at Quidenham, The Treehouse in Ipswich and Milton in Cambridgeshire.

Cyclists will weave through scenic countryside, visiting some of the region's lovely villages and towns for refreshment breaks and will be spurred on by a cheering squad at each of the three hospices.

Lesa Barker, head of regional fundraising, said: 'We're very excited to be launching our new revamped Ride for Life event. Cycling is an incredibly popular sport now and we hope that this will appeal to regular cyclists as well as those people who fancy a new challenge for 2017.

'There's no competitive aspect and people can enter as a team or as a solo cyclist.

'The great thing about cycling together for three days is that the group will work as a team, supporting one another and enjoying mealtimes together, so by the end of it I'm sure we'll all be firm friends.'

The event starts on Friday, September 29 and finishes on Sunday, October 1 at the home of the headline sponsor, Johnston Logistics UK, Snetterton.

Cyclists can choose to enter for one day and ride around 65 miles or for those feeling up to the challenge can enter for the full three days, cycling more than 200 miles.

EACH cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across East Anglia. Currently it provides specialist care and support for 351 children and young people, with an additional 417 family members receiving face-to-face therapeutic support.

It costs the charity almost £6 million a year to deliver its services and all funds raised through Ride for Life will help.

EACH is also currently raising money to build a new £10m state-of-the-art hospice at Framingham Earl, near Norwich, replacing the current Quidenham site.

There are entry fees for places, which are limited, and minimum sponsorship amounts which need to be raised. For more information or to book your place click here
