The charity behind plans to build an information and support centre in Halesworth has re-applied for planning permission following delays with the site towards the end of last year.

Permission needed to be applied for again due to minor changes in the plans for The Pear Tree Centre including fewer car parking spaces, from 19 to 11, following boundary changes to the site after the sale to the Halesworth Community Nursing Care Fund (HCNCF).

The plans include details of a lounge, a group room, a therapy room, and a counselling room.

The information and support centre aims to bring a wide range of services closer to home for people with life-limiting illnesses in north east Suffolk and south Norfolk, including help understanding a diagnosis, wellbeing advice, complementary therapies, legal guidance and support for children and families.

The application follows HCNCF’s successful fundraising campaign which raised more than £710,000 for the centre.

The final decision on the application will be made by Waveney District Council in either April or May.
