Archant weatherman Ken Blowers said temperatures in Suffolk dropped to -6C overnight - which was the coldest recorded temperature since the bitter weather began in December - and the temperatures are likely to continue dropping this week.
Forecasters predict snow and sleet showers to arrive in the region tomorrow afternoon from a front moving in from the north.
The snow is likely to fall until Friday, but not to the same extent as before Christmas. However there are warnings of a 'weather event' at the end of the week, which Mr Blowers predicts could be heavy snow.
Mr Blowers said: “By my records this is the coldest winter for 18 years. And it is only going to get worse.”
Weatherman Phil Garner, of Norwich-based Weatherquest, said we will continue to see the mercury drop to -1C during the day.
