A town’s scarecrow festival and carnival set to take place next month has become the latest event to be postponed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Loddon Scarecrow festival and carnival was due to be held on Saturday, June 27 with a wartime theme, but has now been postponed until June 2021.
The week-long annual event culminates with a carnival and procession involving many local businesses, shops, tea rooms, schools and pubs.
The main carnival day also includes a wide range of stalls, food and drink, dance and drum groups as well as children’s activities, including donkey rides.
The festival had been set to include Loddon Army Cadets, Norwich Rock and Soul Choir and Loddon Jazz Band among others.
Previous themes for the festival included a trip back to the swinging sixties in 2018, with scarecrows including Bobby Moore, Neil Armstrong and Zebedee from the Magic Roundabout.
