CROWDS gathered in the sunshine to enjoy one of the summer season's first carnivals yesterday.

The parade through Halesworth town centre, organised by Halesworth Lions, entertained onlookers as it made its way to the town park on Sunday afternoon.

It was led by carnival queen Abi Wright and her princess Shelby Barritt, who were accompanied by the Suffolk Samba Band and Reydon Marching Band.

After the main parade, there was a fancy dress competition in the park, a pet show and the annual carnival duck race.
