A Bungay dad hopes to raise thousand of pounds for charity when he takes part in the London Marathon next month (Sunday 13 April).

Steve Warman, 37, took up running to keep his wife company on the quiet country lanes around their Kirby Cane home. And inspired by his marathon running father-in-law, the dad of three signed up for his first ever marathon, which he will run on behalf of Sheringham-based charity BREAK.

Steve's training includes regular 5.30am runs before he heads off to work as Sales and Marketing Manager at Wroxham sailmakers Jeckells - a schedule which has helped him lose three and a half stones in the last year. Support from Jeckells has included new running kit and time off for longer runs.

“I feel much healthier and fitter than I used. Running is a brilliant way of clearing your head. It's great to be able to go for a long run them come home still full of energy,” said Steve, a member of Waveney Valley Athletics Club in Lowestoft.

“The club is great fun with lovely people who have helped me on leaps and bounds,” he added.

Last year, Jeckells Managing Director Chris Jeckells was one of three men to take part in a 123-mile non-stop row. Inspired by the classic novel Three Men in a Boat, the trio's Broads marathon feat helped raise over £20,000 for charity.

Based in Wroxham, Jeckells is the world's oldest family owned designer and manufacturer of sails. Anyone interested in sponsoring Steve can donate by logging on to www.justgiving.com/stevewarman.
