‘Distressed’ man taken to hospital after early hours fall

A man was taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning after falling at his home in Bungay.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called alongside the Ambulance to assist the “distressed” man who had to be extracted from his home on Outney Road.

Emergency services were on scene for nearly an hour, having been called at 4.09am today, March 25.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance service said: “We were called to Outney Road in Bungay shortly before 3am today (25 March) after receiving a report that a man had fallen.

“We sent an ambulance and rapid response vehicle and treated one patient at the scene before transporting him to James Paget Hospital for further assessment and care.”

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, co-responding, also sent one appliance from Bungay to assist the ambulance service with gaining entry to the property, but say they were not needed.

“We were called by the ambulance service to help with an extraction from a property,” a spokesman said.

“There was someone distressed we had to help with the ambulance service, but once on scene we did not need to do anything.”

Emergency services left the scene at 5.01am.
