CHILDREN'S entertainment with an environmental message should attract a family audience to the Fisher Theatre at Bungay tomorrow afternoon.

The Nutmeg Theatre presents The Rubbish Monster at 2pm. It follows the story of Katie, who comes across a crisp packet while paddling her boat down a river, and it begs her to take it home. It sets off a strange summer's day story which provides great family entertainment. Tickets are £5.

The Music of Disney show scheduled for tomorrow evening has had to be cancelled because of illness among members of the cast.

There is also action in the cellar bar. Tonight there is Groove Cellar, the sound of the sixties, at 7.30pm. On Wednesday the Comedy Club is back in the cellar at 7.30pm for another night of hilarity (£5), and next Friday Gary's Dad and Pepe provide a double header of acoustic folk, pop and blues, with a raunchy attitude.

Two weeks hence, on August 15, the Black Ram Theatre Company is back, this time with the Charlotte Bronte classic Jane Eyre, adapted for the stage by Charles Vance.

The well-loved 19th century story of the penniless orphan is faithfully transferred from book to stage. It focuses on the love between Rochester and Jane as she arrives to take up the post of governess to Rochester's ward, Adele, at Thornfield Hall. But a grim secret from his past jeopardises their romance.

It is on for three nights from August 15, with a 2pm matinee on the Saturday.

The Monday film next week is Distant Voices, Still Lives (15) a tale of the Liverpool working class during the second world war. The Wednesday matinee at 2.30pm is the classic comedy Trouble in Paradise, and on Thursday evening the film is The Golden Compass (PG), starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.

Tickets for all events at the Fisher are available through the box office on 01986 897130, or through the website: www.fishertheatre.org
