EVENTS organisers from across Suffolk who have started to plan festivals for this summer have been given some top tips on how to stage a successful show.

Down Your Lane, Up Your Street was an opportunity for anyone organising an event, however big or small, to get some handy hints from the professionals.

Held at The Cut arts centre in Halesworth, the day paved the way for organisers to make some early bookings, thanks to some show snippets from performers.

Down Your Lane, Up Your Street, which was put on by Mid-Suffolk District Council and Suffolk Coastal District Council, also featured an arts market, workshops on how to secure funding and inspirational speakers from international street fairs to village festivals.

Arts officer for Mid-Suffolk District Council Zoey Furzer said the event, which was the first of its kind, had proved popular.

“We were fully booked and had a waiting list of about 40 people,” she said. “It was all about encouraging communities to think about programming more diverse arts, being a little bit braver in their programming and letting them see some really high aspiring performers.”
