When the Grand Henham Steam Rally returns this weekend the organisers promise an even more spectacular event with a new display from country dogs and birds of prey.

The annual rally comes to Henham Park, near Halesworth, tomorrow and Sunday from 10am to 6pm, bringing in tow an array of traditional steam engines from the length and breadth of the country. Vintage military and commercial vehicles will also feature, alongside an assortment of classic cars.

In the arena, crowds will be treated to heavy horses demonstrations, and new for this year is a display showing how the harrier hawk works alongside country working dogs. There will also be craft stalls as well as fun for the children with Punch and Judy and Andy the Clown.

Another new attraction is the food court featuring a range of local and national artisan food producers and services. And two leading Suffolk chefs will be showing off their expertise with free cookery demonstrations both days.

Mike Powell-Evans, chairman of the steam rally committee, said: “We really want to mark the return to Henham Park with two days of spectacular displays along with the traditional country pursuits that has made the Grand Henham Steam Rally the place to visit since its first rally 42 years ago.”

The rally raises thousands of pounds each year for local organisations as well as supporting charities. Admission is £11 on the gate with under 14s free. For more information visit www.henhamsteamrally.com
