A special event marking the 10th anniversary of the Fairtrade Fortnight in Beccles has been postponed due to the Beast from the East.

Organisers have been forced to reschedule the anniversary reception expected to take place today (Friday, March 2) at Hungate Church until Friday, March 9.

Special guests including town mayor Richard Stubbings, Waveney MP Peter Aldous, and former MP Bob Blizzard were all expected to attend the event along with representatives from businesses and other local groups that have supported Fairtrade in Beccles over the past 10 years.

The Fairtrade Fortnight campaign began on Monday, February 26, and is extra special this year as it is the town’s tenth year supporting farmers and producers around the world to get a fair deal.

The theme for this year is opening doors to Fairtrade, with a range of activities planned to invite residents to join the celebrations.
