FIREFIGHTERS rescued a woman with spinal injuries by lifting her on a stretcher though her first-floor window.

The 21-year-old, who lives in The Street, Bramfield, near Halesworth, fell from her loft hatch just before 7pm on Saturday.

Paramedics wanted to keep her horizontal on a spinal board, so fire crews lifted her through a window rather than down the stairs. She was placed on a hydraulic platform and lowered to the ground.

She was then taken by an ambulance crew to the James Paget University Hospital, in Gorleston, for further treatment. The extent of her injuries is not yet known.
