Families braved blustery conditions on Saturday for Maisebrooke Farm's annual Easter fair.

The event held at the farm in Shipmeadow, provided the chance for youngsters to get up and close with chicks, lambs and baby goats.

Pony and carriage rides were cancelled due to the high winds, but it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of those that turned up.

As well as getting to see the animals, there was also an egg hunt, a bouncy castle and an all day BBQ with home made produce.

Maisebrooke Farm was established in 2010 and has its own shop which is open all year round from Thursday to Sunday selling meats and local produce as well as live chickens and animal feed.

The farm’s Easter Fair was first established in 2014, and the farm also a summer fair.

Catherine Ellingham, who went to the fair with her two children said: “The staff were friendly and helpful and it was lovely to see the whole family helping out.

“Even my pony mad eight year old was able to understand why there were no pony rides and did not mind at all.

“It was a very well organised event and great way to educate the next generation about farming and promote locally grown and reared produce.”
