A church has been illuminated with light as part of an exhibition which has seen more than 50 trees displayed throughout December.

The Festival of Trees at St Mary’s Church in Halesworth is in its third year in this format and local organisations, businesses and groups have taken part contributing their own trees or producing a display for the church to the theme of carols.

Ann Wilkinson, from Friends of St Mary’s, said: “The trees were in place for the November 28 switch on and will be in place until and including January 5 so people still have time to come and have a look.

“It has been a lovely backdrop for all the services we have had in the church, including carol concerts.

“It has been visited by people from outside the town which is nice, because it has attracted people into Halesworth.

“All variety of groups have participated, including Edgar Sewter pre-school whose pupils made a lovely Little Donkey tree and Bungay Sixth Form pupils who contributed some of their paintings.”

Donations from visitors to the church will go towards the regeneration of St Mary’s.

The church is open daily for people to see the displays between 10.30am and 3.30pm when all the lights on the trees are switched on.
