A FESTIVAL organised by young people in south Norfolk is set to bring new music, art and poetry to the area.

The Loddon Out Loud festival, which will debut on August 30, will be headlined by Wakefield-based indie trio The Research and also feature poetry from award-winning stand-up poet Luke Wright, who has performed at the Edinburgh Festival, Glastonbury and Latitude.

A FESTIVAL organised by young people in south Norfolk is set to bring new music, art and poetry to the area.

The Loddon Out Loud festival, which will debut on August 30, will be headlined by Wakefield-based indie trio The Research and also feature poetry from award-winning stand-up poet Luke Wright, who has performed at the Edinburgh Festival, Glastonbury and Latitude at Henham.

The one-day event will take place on George Lane and has been organised by the Loddon Youth Council, which tries to improve facilities for young people living in the town and surrounding villages, with support from Loddon Parish Council.

Steve Hogarth, one of the organisers, said: "The parish council came up with the idea of a music festival in response to questionnaires which had been filled in by young people in Loddon.

"It's taken us about two months so far to get this far. We've had lots of interest from bands and from people who want to buy tickets.

"It's the biggest event we've organised in Loddon and hopefully it will appeal to young people all over Norfolk to come along and have a brilliant day out."
