PUBLISHED: 09:00 06 March 2016
With just over a week to go before the second Halesworth Day of Dance, final preparations are well under way.
Hosted by Oxblood Molly, the day will see a variety of sides and styles at locations around the town next Saturday, March 12.
It will start in Market Square at 11am with Molly, North West, Cotswold, Border and belly dancing groups, before a procession at 11.30am led by Oxblood Molly.
From 11.50am, there will be dancing outside Cherie’s cafe, the White Hart, The Angel Inn, The White Swan and in the Market Square outside Tilly’s.
Among the groups performing are the Halesworth Morris Monkeys, made up of pupils from Edgar Sewter Primary School performing in public for the first time, Bury St Edmunds-based Border Morris side Green Dragon and the Chelmsford Morris Ladies.
There will then be a mass dance at 4pm outside Chinney’s, where popular music group Near Enough will then play from 4.40pm to 5.30pm.
The day will then culminate with an informal Ceilidh session at the White Swan at 7pm.
Organiser Zoe-Anne Wadey said: “The first Halesworth Day of Dance in 2015 was everything we wanted it to be, a fabulous fun day for everyone.
“However, looking back we realised that apart from Alexander Kingsnorth, there were no children dancing. “We were determined to resolve this – so since September, members of Oxblood Molly and Pretty Grim Border Morris have been teaching both Molly Dancing and Morris Dancing at Edgar Sewter Primary School.
“The Halesworth Morris Monkeys Have worked very hard this year and we are proud to have them with us.”
