There’s just one week to go until the annual Harvest Moon Music Festival returns to Beccles, offering a whole day of free musical entertainment.

Now in its ninth year, the festival will be held next Saturday, August 13, at Beccles Quay, with an eclectic mix of nine bands and soloists performing from noon to dusk (8.30pm).

And as well as the music there will be variety of stalls, a children’s roundabout, donkey rides and plenty of food and drink.

The Butchers Arms’ landlord Ian Willis will once again be running the bar with real ales, wines and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to quench your thirst.

Jula Janney, chairman of Beccles Community Arts - the committee behind the festival - said: “Last year proved to be our best turnout ever, and we look forward to welcoming even more for the 2016 festival.

“There will be ample parking available, or for those more local, perhaps a leisurely walk to the quay. Bring chairs, a rug, and picnic or purchase your food from the stalls at the event.”

Kicking off the music will be Hot Cold Ground, followed by Aphra at 1pm, Vaudevue at 1.45pm and Maizie Walsh at 2.30pm playing covers and originals. At 3.15pm, The Baroness and the Bear will be taking to the stage, followed by Mista Beat at 4.15pm, The Old Stuff Band at 5.15pm and The Fool’s Moon at 6.15pm. Rounding off the evening will be headliners True Scape taking to the stage at 7.15pm.

All of the bands come from Norfolk and Suffolk and will be supported by sound engineer Silas Rayner, who is director of the Suffolk-based Maui Waui Festival.

Food on offer will include Artisan Ice Cream, Tubby’s pulled pork and burgers, Sweet Sunrise Crepes and Sweetdreamz Candy Cart. There will also be local information stalls, a mud kitchen, face painting, Beccles and Bungay Journal goody bags, and plants, a tombola and information stall by Beccles Community Arts – all to help support the funding for the proposed community stage project.

Although the event is free to attend there will be donation buckets for anyone who would like to support the stage project, along with parking at the quay for a donation.

The committee is in desperate need of more volunteers to help at the event and anyone interested can contact Amy Smith on 01502 712502 or email amy.smith@archant.co.uk
