A “suspicious” large shed fire was stopped from spreading to nearby property in Beccles.

Fire crews from across Waveney were called to the fire in Fredericks Road which was quickly spreading to nearby hedges and fencing.

Two crews from Lowestoft South, and a crew from both Beccles and Bungay fire stations attended the scene after receiving the call just before midnight on Sunday night.

Crews used four sets of breathing apparatus, two jets and two hose reels to successfully extinguish the fire at 1.23am. The fire service was later stood down at 1.50am.

Suffolk Police said they are treating the fire as suspicious, but as yet the owner of the shed has not come forward.
