A team of firefighters rushed to free an ambulance crew who had become trapped in heavy snow late last night.
Fire crews were alerted at 10.50pm to reports of an ambulance stuck in the snow in Hazel Lane, Thorington, near Halesworth.
A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said: “We have received many similar calls over the past few days.
“Crews from Halesworth and Lowestoft South attended and helped to dig the ambulance out of the snow and they were able to carry on their journey.”
The crew from Lowestoft South were on hand with a specialised unimog vehicle, complete with 4x4 capabilities and a hydraulic winch.
The ambulance crew were able to continue their journey just before midnight.
There have been countless stories of heroics from the emergency services and members of the public over the past week – such as the ambulance team who trekked for three miles over fields with equipment tied to sledges to get to a patient in need.
