A Suffolk woman accused of throwing a heart-shaped vase at her partner causing a cut to his arm which needed 13 stitches during a Valentine's Day row has denied being responsible for the injury.

Lynette Wright told a jury at Ipswich Crown Court that Anthony Glover had become violent after she told him to leave their Beccles home and had grabbed hold of her and pinned her against a wall.

During the incident she had picked up a glass teddy bear he had given her for Valentine's Day and had thrown it behind her causing a black heart-shaped vase to shatter.

She claimed she had picked up the broken glass and thrown it outside and had then thrown some of Mr Glover's clothing outside as well.

She claimed Mr Glover had grabbed hold of her and pinned her against a wall and she had swung him off her resulting in him knocking into the fireplace.

She went upstairs and claimed that Mr Glover had come up shortly afterwards with blood dripping from his arm.

She denied causing the injury or throwing anything at Mr Glover.

Wright told the court Mr Glover was a heavy drinker and claimed that the night before the alleged attack he had cut his wrist and sucked blood from the wound 'like a vampire'.

Wright, 38, of Fair Close, Beccles, has denied inflicting grievous bodily harm to Mr Glover on February 14 and damaging a mobile phone and a tablet belonging to him.

The court has heard that Wright and Mr Glover met in March 2015 while she was working at 'Foxy Kittens' escort agency and they started living together in Field View Gardens in Beccles in November that year.

On February 14 last year Wright allegedly told Mr Glover to leave the house after an argument and threw his clothes on to the front lawn.

She allegedly pulled Mr Glover down the stairs and picked up a heart shaped ornament from the fireplace and threw it in his direction.

The ornament smashed and allegedly caused a 12cm wound to Mr Glover's left arm.

After her arrest Wright denied picking up the ornament and throwing it at Mr Glover and said she didn't know how the wound was caused.

The trial continues.
