Eight charities which care for stray, abandoned, unwanted and injured animals have been given a boost thanks to the generous supporters of a veterinary clinic.

The benefitting charities have received £350 from Wangford Veterinary Clinic, raised over the course of last year and through December’s Santa Paws Appeal.

The charities were Foxy Lodge Wildlife Rescue, Norfolk and Suffolk Animal Trust, FAITH Animal Rescue, the Blue Cross Suffolk, Dogs Trust, Cats Protection, Rose Cottage Cats and Meadowgreen Dog Rescue Centre.

A spokesman from the vets said: “We know that caring for these animals does not come cheap with food, equipment, kennels, medication, neutering, microchipping, parasite control and heating bills going through the roof over the winter months. There is no government funding available either, so the money that has been donated really will make a difference.

“Your generosity also helps to take the pressure off these charities and their volunteers, so they can concentrate on the most important aspect of looking after the animal’s day to day care instead of the constant battle to raise funds.”

Donations of items such as food, treats, toys and bedding were all distributed in time to be used over the Christmas period.
