Groups celebrate cash boost thanks to Community Chest giveaway

Three community groups are celebrating being the first to receive a share of the Community Chest grant from our sister paper the Eastern Daily Press.
All Hallows Healthcare Trust based in Ditchingham and Link Lunch Club and the Waveney Centre in Beccles have been given hundreds of pounds after collecting tokens printed in the EDP.
All Hallows, which offers a range of services for elderly and disabled people and those receiving palliative care, applied for a share of the fund to help pay for an outing.
Their application was put together by Lucy Cooper, who said: “I want to say a big thank you to all that have been collecting the community chest tokens for us. We received a cheque for £300 which will be split between our specialist care home St Edmunds house, Daycare Centre and Nursing Home to go towards an outing fund for our residents and clients.
“Thank you again so much for your help and support.”
The Beccles Link Lunch Club, which provides home cooked meals to elderly people at St Luke’s Church Centre, was given £500 to buy a new freezer.
Volunteer Molly Bennett said: “This appliance will make a big difference to our beautiful kitchen and will enable us to see at a glance what we have in stock.
“We had friends, neighbours and people who come to the lunch club all collecting, once again thankyou.”
And the Waveney Centre in Beccles was granted £500 to spend on refurbishing its armchairs.
Manager Fay Baldry said: “We’re thrilled with the money, we were really surprised to get it the first time.
“We had no end of people collecting for us, not just locally. We had people’s friends and family collecting and sending them in as well.
“It’s a big boost for us and it meant that the people here could get involved. We’ve got some armchairs that need new springs and upholstery and we’ve been wanting to get them done for some time now, so we can get them fixed. We’re really grateful to everybody for getting behind it.”
Cash grants of between £250 and £2,500 will be awarded every month. To put yourself in line for a cash boost, all you need to do is collect tokens printed daily on the back page of the EDP.
