A Halesworth dementia charity hosted a celebratory walk to commemorate its fifth anniversary.

The Halesworth dementia Carers’ Fund held a ‘Walk to Remember’ at the Millennium Green last month.

The group provide respite care for people with dementia in order for their carers and families to enjoy a well needed break.

A spokesman for HdCF said: “The day started with a splash of rain to freshen up the Green before the walk started.

“Several dogs walked with their owners, some walkers in fancy dress and all received a certificate at the end of the walk.

“While Ann Follows, a friend of HdCF, walked here, her son in Vietnam was running a marathon and donated to our worthy cause.”

As walkers took part in the event Halesworth Lions supplied refreshments.

The spokesman added: “Our thanks go to Jim Fyfe for his organisation of the event, the Lions for their support and the walkers and their sponsors.”

The event was so successful the charity is planning a repeat next year.
