Halesworth vocal group appeals for volunteer to help organise concerts and tours

A female vocal group based in Halesworth is looking for a volunteer to help organise their concerts.
Seraphim provides its audiences with performances in beautiful churches and historic spaces, by giving mini concert days in special venues.
Each mini tour includes historical background, refreshments and coaches are available for anyone wishing to take part in their musical pilgrimage.
The current organiser has sadly had to depart due to personal reasons and the nine soloists are now looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the management team to help organise local concerts and tours to far flung destinations.
Vetta Wise, musical director of Seraphim said: “Musical experience is not essential rather a willingness to assist this enterprising group of singers and me with its activities. If you have a few hours a month and would like to learn what is involved please get in touch.”
Seraphim’s next concert brings them back to St Peter’s Church in Theberton where they will debut a piece by a local composer.
Mrs Wise said: “Over the past year or so I’ve come across some fantastic and very beautiful music written by living composers, some famous, some not so much.
“One is very interesting, Chris Upton, who joined my Pakefield Singers over a year ago and I have since discovered that he is a composer, on top of his job at the Bernard Matthews. So we are singing one of his pieces.”
It takes place on Sunday, March 12, and will include mystic sounds spanning the centuries and evocative lighting and colours devised by Beccles man Jim Laws to meld with the music.
Ethereal flute and harp shapes will come from Yoxford resident Anna Noakes and Gabriella Dall’Olio and two brand new pieces have been written for Seraphim to sing by Elis Pehkonen from Theberton and Jonathan Rutherford.
The concert begins at 5.15pm, preceded by a peal of bells by the Theberton bell-ringers.
Tickets at £13.50 include light refreshments are available from the box office on 07763 527239. Visit www.seraphimvoices.uk for information about future performances.
